Annual Ocklawaha River Raid Civil War Reenactment Living History Weekend

  • Location: The Florida Horse Park, 11008 South Highway 475, Ocala, FL 34480
  • Cost: Admission is $10 per carload

Come one and all to witness a bygone time of American and Marion County Florida history brought vividly to life. The grounds of the Florida Horse Park will see time step back to the 1860s. Union, Confederate, and civilian re-enactors will converge on the site. Wander authentic soldiers' camps and civilian homestead and interact with these authentic re-enactors many of whom are very knowledgeable about the time period and the roles they portray. Peruse the history interpretive center with details of Florida's and Marion County's role in the Civil War. Try your hand at letter writing 1860s style. Bring the youngsters for a scavenger hunt among the authentic camps (list provided on site). Grounds open from 9 AM to 4 PM each with numerous Living History displays and demonstrations ongoing. At 2 PM each day Union and Confederate forces with infantry, cannon, and cavalry troops meet in battle re-enactments commemorating the only Civil War battle in Marion County. Food concessions on site. Chairs and blankets recommended for battle viewing area.
