Silver River Knap-In at Silver River Museum

Don’t miss the ninth annual Silver River Knap-In at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park. Expert flint knappers (people who make stone tools such as spear points and knives), archaeologists, potters, hide tanners, bow makers, dugout canoe carvers and other specialists in prehistoric skills will gather from across the U.S. to demonstrate their crafts.

This unique event includes displays of ancient Native American artifacts from Florida as well as archery, tomahawk and atlatl spear throwing activities each day. Archaeologists will also give presentations exploring the prehistory of Florida on both Saturday and Sunday. Vendors also offer unique crafts, reproduction stone tools, raw stone, knapping tools and food for sale.

Visitors can visit the Silver River Museum, hike or bike the trails of the state park, or canoe and kayak on the pristine Silver River. $6.00 cash admission per person (There is no ATM on site) Kids five and under admitted free. Free state park entry and parking.

All proceeds help support educational programs at the Silver River Museum.
