The park features 1.5 miles of equestrian trail & 0.5 miles of hiking trails, parking lots & picnic areas. Parks & Recreation received a generous donation from an anonymous donor to extend the equestrian trail to 3.0 miles & build equine obstacles along the trail. Future plans include a restroom, playground equipment, a multi-purpose field, & a pavilion.
The Norm Westbrook Park named after Norman “Norm” Richard Westbrook, who bequeathed 102.75 acres of prestige ranch land to Marion County Parks & Recreation. Norm loved this property very much, raising his three horses and favorite dog, Toole. He had a reputation of grooming his property as if it was a park. In 2014, Norm who was battling pancreatic cancer and could no longer manage the property, made the difficult decision of giving it up. Norm decided to donate the land to Parks & Recreation with the intentions of turning the land into a public park that would serve the community upon his passing. On Nov. 30 2019, Norm peacefully passed away with his family at his side.
