
High school and college students are hired as Camp Counselors. Students must have completed the 9th grade to be eligible for application. Counselor applications are sent to local high schools in early February. You may contact your school Guidance Counselor for an application, or download it from the link below. Completed hard copy applications are due back to the camp clerk no later than March 22. Interviews and hires are completed in by late April.
Counselors report to work at camp Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. Counselors sleep at camp Monday through Thursday night and are generally released from work about 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Counselors are given break time each day and also receive one evening off each week when they may leave camp until 11 p.m. (with parental permission for minors).
Counselors must meet the following criteria to be considered for hire (If you fail to meet one or more of these criteria you will not be considered for hire):
• High grades (typically 3.0 GPA or better depending on courses taken)
• Good school attendance
• No discipline issues (applicants with numerous or serious discipline referrals will not be considered)
• No arrest record
• Good teacher references
• Pass drug screening
A limited number of unpaid Counselor-in-Training (CIT) positions are available to successful applicants who are not selected for a paid position. CIT’s earn volunteer hours and valuable experience. Applicants must complete the application process to be eligible
