 by The Marion County Sheriff’s Office to help our upcoming teen drivers be 
 safe on our roadways. With driving being the leading cause of death among t
 eenagers, we are committed to doing everything possible to reduce their cha
 nces of being involved in a traffic accident. The class is for young driver
 s who are between the ages of 15-19 and have a learner’s permit or driver’s
  license WITH AT LEAST SIX MONTHS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE. It is a one-day ev
 ent consisting of classroom instruction and vehicle operations.<br /><br />
 In partnership with the Florida Sheriff’s Association, the Marion County Sh
 eriff’s office proudly offers our young drivers the Teen Drivers Challenge 
 course. With driving being the leading cause of death among teenage drivers
 , we are committed to doing everything possible to reduce their chances of 
 being involved in a traffic accident. This is a defensive driving class for
  young drivers between the ages of 15-19 with a leaner’s permit or driver’s
  license with at least SIX MONTHS of driving experience. <br /><br />This p
 rogram is a no-cost, hands-on defensive driving class designed to educate y
 oung drivers on vehicle awareness and will cover various topics such as:·  
   <br /><br />Teen crash facts - Knowing your vehicle - Using your senses -
  Vehicle dynamics - Drug and alcohol use - Aggressive driving and road rage
  - Figure 8 - Threshold/Emergency Braking - Backing - Cornering - Forward a
 nd reverse serpentine - Evasive maneuvers.<br /><br />It is a one-day event
  consisting of classroom lectures and vehicle operations. They will learn i
 nvaluable information that will not only make them a safer driver but could
  also save their life. <br /><br />These classes are on a first-come, first
  serve basis.
