Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' & Owners' Association Museum and Gallery

The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' & Owners' Association Museum and Gallery features the history and promotion of the Florida thoroughbred in the Horse Capital of the World, Ocala/Marion County.

The museum features Florida's first Kentucky Derby winner Needles' 1956 trophy along with the Needles collection. Dr. Fager, still the world record holder for the dirt mile run in 1968, is also featured with his famed "speeding ticket" issued to him as a publicity stunt shortly after his arrival back to his hometown. The museum includes the Affirmed collection, America's last Triple Crown winner in 1978. In addition, an extensive gallery of original art graces the wall of the museum, research library and boardroom.

Complimentary admission, although a charitable donation for the Florida Thoroughbred Charities horse retirement farm and student scholarships is welcome. Hours-Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (closed 12-1).
