Fort King National Historic Landmark Programs

Fort King National Historic Landmark Programs

Fort King was a typical U.S. Army frontier fort and a noteworthy symbol of the longest and costliest war America had with its native people – the Seminole War. Fort King is a narrative that speaks of a complicated history as relates to the occupation of the State of Florida and beyond. It is the story of a young country struggling to thrive and of native inhabitants trying to survive. At the Fort King National Historic Landmark, history comes to life though our events and programs, heritage garden and more.

Volunteer: We are looking for volunteers who are willing to assist us in the Heritage Center at least one 3.5 hour shift per month. Volunteers will assist park visitors in the by answering questions providing information and resource materials. The center is housed in a lovely home situated on 36 lush acres. A beautiful place to spend a few hours! Whether you prefer indoors or outdoors, one-on-one, or helping many, there are plenty of ways you can make an impact in our community.
